Foster Construction win big at the Property Industry Awards

About the Awards

The prestigious Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards are presented to outstanding property projects, developments or substantive refurbishments across Aotearoa New Zealand.

The highly-regarded awards focus on efficient use of capital. Projects are awarded for meeting a wide range of criteria to provide an outstanding return and/or delivery of service potential on investment of funds and maximum community benefit for public buildings.

Foster Construction won two highly-noted awards; Resene Green Building Award and CBRE Industrial Property Award for their project APL Hautapu in Cambridge. The project also received a Merit in the RCP Commercial Office Property Award category.

The APL Hautapu HQ project was one of eight nominees in the Green Property category, and 10 in the Industrial Property category. It was amongst 83 entries for the 2022 awards.

What the Judges Said

Rising out of the landscape on the outskirts of Cambridge, Profile Group’s Hautapu Manufacturing Facility is the first stage of the new APL campus that will consolidate multiple Hamilton sites to one fully-self-serviced location. The flagship sculpture is strikingly simple. The commitment to deliver on APL’s pledge to sustainability is evident from the design stage through to construction and ongoing operation.

The project team has worked together to influence every part of the supply chain and think differently for the benefit of the environment, community, employees and future economic benefit. This development is part of a long-term strategy to accommodate business growth and set a benchmark for sustainable development in Aotearoa, while focussing on supporting delivery of an industry-leading approach to employee health and wellbeing.

Each nominee is assessed against the following criteria

  • Economic and financial criteria 30%

  • Project vision and innovation (includes degree of difficulty) 20%
